Plant Description
Overview
Brighamia, commonly known as the Hawaiian Palm, is a distinctive succulent plant native to the Hawaiian Islands. Characterised by its thick, succulent stem and rosette of lush, glossy green leaves, this species offers a striking architectural form. Its slow growth habit and compact size make it an excellent addition to trade houseplants ranges, performing reliably within wholesale plant supply due to its resilience and ease of cultivation in controlled environments.
Key Features
The Hawaiian Palm features deep green, slightly leathery leaves with a smooth texture, which form a symmetrical rosette atop its swollen base. Its growth habit is upright and compact, typically reaching heights suitable for indoor display without overwhelming space. It adapts well to moderate to bright indirect light conditions, making it versatile for various interior settings. This plant demonstrates good drought tolerance, withstanding occasional neglect in watering without significant decline. Maintenance requirements are minimal, allowing for efficient handling and display in retail settings, while its unique, tropical appearance adds significant merchandising appeal.
Why Trade Buyers Choose This Plant
Trade buyers value Brighamia for its consistent commercial performance and reliability across multiple supply batches, ensuring quality uniformity. The natural variation in leaf tone or size is controlled, providing a predictable product. Its versatility allows it to fit seamlessly into retail outlets, commercial interiors, and houseplant ranges, addressing diverse market needs. The ongoing interest in exotic and architectural plants within trade houseplants supports its stable demand in wholesale plant supply.
Typical Retail Placement
This plant is well-suited for retail display on houseplant benches where its architectural form attracts attention. In office environments, it functions effectively as an elegant desktop or side-table plant due to its manageable size and low light adaptability. Enhancing interior displays, the Hawaiian Palm adds a tropical yet sophisticated element, appealing in gift-ready or seasonal arrangements. Its resilience to indoor conditions ensures it maintains a healthy appearance across various commercial placements.
Wholesale & Retail Suitability
Brighamia typically demonstrates good shelf life in retail conditions, retaining visual appeal over extended display periods. It is suited for volume and repeat wholesale orders, benefiting from its stable growth patterns and transport hardiness. Careful handling during shipping is recommended due to its succulent nature, but it generally endures transit and merchandising processes well. Retailers can expect consistent plant quality and presentation, facilitating straightforward point-of-sale management.

Learn more about our delivery process
Our delivery schedule is designed to allow us to source plants from a range of specialist growers and nurseries across Holland, the UK and Europe, helping us offer a much wider and more unusual range than is typically available.
Orders placed before 10am on Sunday are included in that week’s shipment cycle. After the Sunday 10am cut-off, we immediately confirm all orders with our growers and suppliers.
From there, your plants are carefully collated from multiple nurseries and transported to the UK. During this process we handle all import requirements, including DEFRA paperwork, phytosanitary certificates and any required plant health inspections.
The plants usually arrive with our nursery team on Wednesday. Once received, we check and sort everything before building your order onto CC trolleys, or packing it into specialist plant boxes for smaller orders. Orders are then dispatched for delivery on Thursday or Friday.
Please note that these delivery dates are based on the normal import and inspection process running smoothly. Occasionally, DEFRA inspections, phytosanitary checks or unforeseen transport delays can hold shipments up. If this happens, delivery may move to the beginning of the following week.

Behind the Scenes: Our Recent Trip to Visit Our Key Growers
At Wholesale Plant Shop, we believe that great wholesale plants start with great grower relationships. That is why, over the past few weeks, we travelled to visit some of our key growers across Holland and Europe. These trips are an important part of how we source plants, build new relationships and make sure we continue to offer the best possible range for our trade customers. From specialist houseplant growers and rare plant nurseries to large-scale outdoor plant producers, we spent time walking through glasshouses, viewing new varieties, discussing quality standards and planning for the seasons ahead. For our customers, this means better plants, better availability and access to exciting new varieties before they become widely available. Why We Visit Our Growers Although we speak with our growers every day, there is no substitute for seeing the plants in person. By visiting our growers directly, we are able to: Inspect plant quality before we buy See how plants are grown and cared for Hand-pick the best lines and sizes for our customers Discuss future availability and seasonal trends Secure stock of popular and hard-to-find plants Find exclusive products that are not widely available elsewhere Strengthen the relationships that help us support our customers all year round These visits also allow us to better understand what is coming next. We can see upcoming crops months before they are ready, meaning we can start planning ahead and helping our customers prepare for future demand. Searching for New and Exclusive Plants One of the biggest aims of the trip was to discover new, unusual and exciting plants for our customers. We know that garden centres, plant shops and online retailers are always looking for something different. Customers want eye-catching plants that stand out on the shelf and create excitement in store. During our trip, we viewed: New variegated and rare houseplant lines Unusual Begonias, Philodendrons and Anthuriums Exciting foliage plants that are only just beginning to enter the UK market New colours, forms and sizes of popular favourites Strong-performing plants for seasonal retail displays Future ranges that will be available later in 2026 We were also able to reserve stock of some particularly exciting plants, helping us secure availability before they are released more widely. For many of these plants, we work directly with growers that we have built long-term relationships with. This means we are often able to offer exclusive lines or first access to varieties that are difficult to find elsewhere. If you are interested in unusual and hard-to-find plants, take a look at our Wholesale Houseplant Catalogue to explore the latest varieties available to trade customers. How This Benefits Our Wholesale Customers Our grower visits are not just about seeing interesting plants. They are about making sure our customers receive the best possible service and stock. As a Wholesale Plant Shop customer, you benefit from: Earlier Access to New Plants Because we see plants before they are released, we can often offer our customers early access to exciting new lines. This gives you the opportunity to stock something different before your competitors. Better Availability By discussing upcoming production with growers in advance, we can reserve stock early and improve availability on popular products. This is particularly important for fast-selling houseplants, seasonal lines and rare plants. More Reliable Quality Seeing the plants in person allows us to assess the quality for ourselves. We can choose the strongest plants, the best grades and the most saleable specimens. We are also able to discuss our exact requirements with growers, helping to ensure that plants arrive in the condition our customers expect. Improved Product Information When we visit growers, we learn far more about each plant – how it is grown, how it performs, what makes it special and what customers are looking for. This helps us create better product descriptions, more accurate sizing information and more useful sales advice for our customers. Alongside our plant ranges, we are also continually looking for new products and ideas that can help our customers create stronger retail displays and improve their offering. You can also browse our Wholesale Accessories Catalogue for pots, display products and accessories that work alongside your plant selection. Exclusive Lines and Better Relationships Our long-standing relationships with growers are one of the biggest advantages we can offer. Because we visit regularly and work closely with our growers, we are often able to: Secure stock during periods of high demand Access varieties not available through standard wholesalers Source unusual sizes or specifications Arrange direct shipments where needed Help customers find specific plants on request Planning for the Seasons Ahead The trip was also an opportunity to plan for the rest of 2026. We spent time discussing: Summer and autumn availability Key seasonal trends Christmas and winter lines New product launches Availability of larger specimen plants Outdoor and indoor plant trends for trade customers By planning ahead with our growers, we can help our customers stay one step ahead too. Whether you are preparing for a seasonal display, planning your next plant delivery or looking for something completely different, our goal is to make sure you have access to the right plants at the right time. For customers looking to plan seasonal displays, landscaping projects or outdoor ranges, our Wholesale Outdoor Plants Catalogue and Horticulture Buying Service can help you source the right products for your business. Building Stronger Partnerships At Wholesale Plant Shop, we see our growers as partners. The better our relationships are, the better we can support our customers. These visits help us strengthen those partnerships and make sure we continue to work with growers who share our values: high quality, strong communication, reliability and exciting products. They also give us the opportunity to share feedback from our customers. We can talk to growers about what is selling well, what customers are asking for and what improvements would make a difference. In many cases, this helps shape future crops and product ranges. What Happens Next? Over the coming weeks, you will begin to see the results of our trip appearing on the website. We will be adding: New wholesale houseplants Exclusive and limited-availability lines Rare and unusual varieties New product collections Seasonal favourites and future launches We will also continue to share updates, photos and sneak peeks from our grower visits through our emails and social media. If you are looking for something specific, or would like help sourcing a particular plant, please contact us. Thanks to the relationships we have built with our growers, there is a good chance we can help. Looking for Something Different? One of the biggest advantages of working with Wholesale Plant Shop is that we are not limited to a standard product list. If you are searching for a particular species, a rare variety, a certain size or something unusual for your customers, let us know. We are always happy to speak with our growers and see what is possible. Our recent trip reminded us exactly why these relationships matter. Behind every great plant is a grower who has spent months – sometimes years – producing it. By working closely with the best growers, we can bring those plants directly to our wholesale customers across the UK. Ready to discover something new? Plant Retail Trends to Watch in 2027 (Beyond Rare Plants & Variegation)
Plant retail has evolved rapidly over the last five years — and the pace isn’t slowing. What began as a houseplant boom has matured into a more strategic, experience-led and sustainability-focused market. As we look ahead, retailers who adapt early will protect margin, reduce risk and stay relevant. Those who don’t will feel increasing pressure from rising costs, changing customer expectations and tighter supply chains. In this article, we explore the plant retail trends to watch in 2027 — and what independent retailers, garden centres and trade buyers should be preparing for now. 🌱 1. Fewer Plants, Better Ranges The era of “stock everything and see what sells” is fading. By 2027, the strongest retailers will: Carry smaller, more curated plant ranges. Focus on reliable, proven sellers. Rotate interest plants instead of overstocking them. Customers value clarity and confidence over endless choice — especially newer plant owners. What to do now: Audit slow movers and start reducing SKU overlap. 🌿 2. Easy-Care Messaging Becomes the Primary Sales Driver By 2027, “easy-care” won’t be a bonus — it will be expected. Retailers will increasingly: Merchandise by care level, not species. Use phrases like “low effort”, “for busy homes”, “office-proof”. Downplay technical botanical language. This shift reduces returns and increases customer confidence. What to do now: Rewrite signage and product descriptions using lifestyle-first language. 🌱 3. Accessories Will Outperform Plants on Margin This trend is already happening — by 2027 it will be unavoidable. Rising costs (energy, transport, labour) will compress plant margins, while accessories remain stable. Expect growth in: Pots and planters. Self-watering systems. Supports, moss poles and trellises. Decorative soil toppers. Retailers who underinvest in accessories will feel the squeeze. What to do now: Build a structured planter and accessory range alongside plants — not as an afterthought. 🌿 4. Sustainability Becomes a Baseline, Not a USP By 2027, sustainability claims won’t differentiate — they’ll be assumed. Customers will expect: Peat-free growing. Reduced plastic packaging. Transparent sourcing. Ethical propagation for rare plants. Retailers unable to evidence this will lose trust, not just sales. What to do now: Start documenting supply chain practices and using clear, honest sustainability messaging. 🌱 5. Plant + Pot Bundling Becomes Standard Selling plants “naked” will feel outdated by 2027. Customers increasingly want: A finished look. Confidence the pot fits. One clear price. Bundling improves conversion, reduces friction and increases basket value. What to do now: Introduce plant + pot bundles for your top 20% best sellers. 🌿 6. Fewer Trend Chasers, More Long-Term Buyers The rare plant hype cycle is stabilising. By 2027: Collectors will still exist — but in smaller numbers. Retailers will buy rare plants in tighter, controlled drops. Long-term, resilient plants will dominate core ranges. Exclusivity will be created through curation, not volume. What to do now: Treat rare plants as marketing tools, not stock volume drivers. 🌱 7. B2B & Commercial Planting Grows Faster Than Retail Office, hospitality and mixed-use spaces continue to invest in greenery. Drivers include: Employee wellbeing. ESG reporting. Biophilic design standards. Retailers who expand into B2B planting, events or maintenance will diversify income. What to do now: Start positioning your business as a trade or commercial supplier — even at small scale. 🌿 8. Logistics & Plant Condition Will Matter More Than Variety As wholesale supply tightens, reliability will beat novelty. Retailers will favour suppliers who offer: Consistent grading. Retail-ready plants. Flexible reorder quantities. Reliable delivery methods. Availability gaps will matter more than missing “interesting” plants. What to do now: Build stronger relationships with fewer, more reliable wholesale suppliers. 🌱 9. Education Becomes a Competitive Advantage By 2027, customers won’t just buy plants — they’ll expect guidance. Retailers who win will: Provide simple care education. Use QR-linked care guides. Train staff to set expectations clearly. This reduces returns and increases repeat visits. What to do now: Standardise care advice by plant category. 🌿 10. Consultancy & Expertise Separate Leaders from Sellers The most resilient businesses won’t rely on retail alone. By 2027, successful operators will combine: Retail sales. Wholesale or trade supply. Consultancy, planning or maintenance services. Expertise becomes monetisable — not just helpful. What to do now: Start documenting your processes and positioning your knowledge as a service. 🌱 How Wholesale Plant Shop Is Preparing for 2027 We’re building our wholesale platform around where plant retail is heading — not where it’s been. We focus on: Retail-ready, consistent plant supply. Flexible wholesale ordering. Accessories and packaging that support margin. Supporting trade, commercial and consultancy-led growth. Our goal is to help retailers adapt confidently — without overexposure. 🪴 Final Thoughts Plant retail in 2027 will reward clarity, consistency and confidence. Retailers who simplify ranges, lean into accessories, plan stock intentionally and expand into trade or consultancy will be best placed to thrive — regardless of economic pressure. 👉 Register for Trade Access or explore the Wholesale Plant Catalogue to future-proof your plant business today.

Wholesale Plants for Pop-Up Shops: How to Buy, Display & Sell Quickly
Pop-up shops are one of the fastest ways to test new locations, reach new audiences and generate short-term sales — but only if your stock is chosen and priced correctly. Plants are ideal for pop-ups: they’re visual, Instagrammable, and create instant atmosphere. However, buying wholesale plants for pop-up retail requires a very different strategy from permanent shops. This guide explains how to buy wholesale plants for pop-up shops, what to stock, how much to buy, and how to maximise profit in a short trading window. 🌱 Why Plants Work So Well in Pop-Up Retail Plants solve several pop-up challenges at once. They: Create instant visual impact with minimal fit-out cost. Attract footfall and social sharing. Work across multiple price points. Can be reused or resold after the event. Done right, plants become both product and décor. 🌿 The Biggest Pop-Up Buying Mistake The most common error is treating a pop-up like a normal shop. Pop-ups fail when retailers: Buy too much slow-moving stock. Choose sensitive plants that decline quickly. Overestimate customer dwell time. Underprice because the event feels “temporary”. Pop-ups require speed, simplicity and resilience. 🌱 Best Wholesale Plants for Pop-Up Shops Plants for pop-ups must look good immediately and tolerate variable conditions. Top-performing categories: Easy-care houseplants – ZZ Plant, Snake Plant, Pothos. Medium feature plants – Monstera, Philodendron, Peace Lily. Small gift plants – succulents, cacti, mini foliage. Statement anchors – palms or large Ficus (few units only). Avoid plants that require strict humidity, shade or daily intervention. 🌿 How Much Stock Should You Buy? Less than you think. Pop-up buying rule of thumb: 70% fast sellers (easy-care, mid-size). 20% gift-sized plants. 10% statement or “attention” plants. It’s better to sell out early than discount on the final day. 🌱 Pricing Strategy for Pop-Up Plants Pop-up customers expect convenience — not bargains. Best pricing approach: Use rounded prices. Avoid heavy discounting. Price for speed, not comparison. Typical margins: Plants: 60–70% Pots & accessories: 70–80% Impulse buying works best when prices feel clear and confident. 🌿 Plant + Pot Bundles Are Essential Bundles massively increase average order value in pop-ups. Why bundles work: Customers don’t want to carry loose plants. The finished look sells faster. Fewer sizing questions. Best bundles: Small plant + ceramic pot. Medium plant + fibreclay planter. Gift plant + care card. Always display plants already potted. 🌱 Accessories That Sell Well at Pop-Ups Accessories should be minimal and purposeful. High-performing add-ons: Care cards. Moss poles. Decorative soil toppers. Gift wrapping. Avoid bulky or technical products that require explanation. 🌿 Merchandising for Speed Pop-up customers decide quickly. Merchandising best practice: Clear price signage. Grouped plants by size, not species. Limited choice per category. One strong hero display. If someone has to ask too many questions, you’ve lost momentum. 🌱 Logistics & Timing Timing matters more than volume. Wholesale delivery tips: Schedule delivery 1–3 days before opening. Allow time for acclimatisation. Do not water heavily before transport. Keep reserve stock off-display. Freshness equals confidence. 🌿 What Happens to Unsold Plants? Plan this before the pop-up opens. Smart options: Move stock back to your main shop. Sell online post-event. Reuse plants for future pop-ups. Use as display plants elsewhere. Pop-up stock should never be “single-use”. 🌱 Common Pop-Up Pitfalls to Avoid Too many rare or sensitive plants. No pots to upsell. Complex pricing. Overwatering during the event. Overbuying “just in case”. Simplicity always wins. 🌿 How Wholesale Plant Shop Supports Pop-Up Retailers We regularly supply retailers running pop-ups, markets and short-term spaces. Our wholesale service supports you with: Flexible ordering volumes. Fast-selling, retail-ready plants. Wholesale pots and accessories. Trolley or box delivery depending on space and access. Pop-ups work best when wholesale supply is flexible. 🪴 Final Thoughts Pop-up plant retail isn’t about having everything — it’s about having the right things. By focusing on easy-care plants, clear pricing, bundles and smart logistics, retailers can turn short-term spaces into high-performing sales opportunities. 👉 Register for Trade Access or browse the Wholesale Plant Catalogue to plan your next pop-up with confidence.
